Why Are Wedding Day Timelines Important?

Planning a wedding is daunting, but it doesn't have to be stressful. A detailed timeline will help you stay on track and ensure that all of your important details get in place with no room for confusion or uncertainty!

The most common misconception about weddings is how much work goes into them; there are so many logistics involved like décor, rentals, guests and vendors... And who has time during the hustle-and-bustle days leading up?

A wedding day timeline is the outline of events, logistics and more that are relevant to pulling your event together. Having an accurate plan in place will ensure everything runs smoothly throughout the day leading up until you say "I do."

Example Wedding Day Timeline

If your wedding day event does not have one of the example items below, feel free to remove/replace items as needed to fit your big day. What matters most is a day that exceeds your expectations and provides memories to last a lifetime.

  • 8:00am - Hair and Makeup
  • 11:00am - Bride and Groom Parties Getting Ready
  • 12:00pm - Solo Portraits (Bride and Groom)
  • 12:30pm - First look, Bride and Groom Couples Portraits
  • 1:00pm - Family Portraits
  • 1:30pm - Bridal Party Group Photos
  • 3:00pm - 4:00pm Wedding Ceremony
  • 4:30pm - Travel To Reception Area
  • 5:00pm - Reception Starts
  • 5:00-9:00pm - Reception Events
  • 9:30pm - Reception Concludes

In the reception, we try not to stamp in timelines too much as guests are having a good time, coupled with music and drinks, this portion of the night generally “flows' ' more with the mood than a schedule. However, keep in mind to cover the following events in the reception period:

  • Introductions
  • First Dance
  • Speeches (including Best Ma\n / Maid of Honor)
  • Dances (Father/Daughter)
  • Cake Cutting
  • Bouquet Toss
  • Final Exit

You Did It!
